America’s AI Leadership Grows from the Heartland

SoftBank Group and SB Energy are building the PORTS Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio continuing U.S. leadership in AI and the region’s long tradition of powering national growth and security. The campus will support advanced technology, including the infrastructure needed for artificial intelligence, which plays an important role in America’s leadership in today’s digital economy.

To support the PORTS Technology Campus and the region, SoftBank Group and SB Energy are developing and constructing new energy generation and grid infrastructure, at no cost to local communities.

Overview of PORTS Technology Campus

Construction of the PORTS Technology Campus will take place in phases. The first 800 MW phase of the PORTS Technology Campus, located at the historic Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion site in Piketon, will start construction in 2026.

Critical National Digital Infrastructure

SoftBank Group and SB Energy are partnering with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to build a 10 GW data center across private and remediated DOE land.

New power generation and grid infrastructure will be constructed to support the PORTS Technology Campus. The new natural gas generation is funded in part through the historic US-Japan Strategic Trade and Investment Agreement and will be owned by the U.S. Government. Additionally, SB Energy will also invest $4.2 billion through AEP Ohio to build new high-voltage transmission lines that will power the facility and support long-term regional grid reliability.
